About the event
The City of Burnside encourages everyone with an interest in Italian history, food and culture to attend the Adelaide Italian Festival @ Burnside. This is an exciting event which celebrates the contributions of Italian migrants and their descendants in South Australia in the past, present and future.
From midday, begin your journey at this event by enjoying some delicious hand-made pizza and gelato in the Civic Centre courtyard, lovingly prepared by the lovely teams at Adelaide Woodfired Pizza and Gelista Gelato. Once you’ve satisfied your stomachs, it’s time to engage your mind! Head into the Civic Centre to see a stunning visual display presented by students enrolled in the Italian language classes at Pembroke Junior School, before joining us in the Burnside Library for the main event.
Please note: tickets to the talk by Dr Daniela Cosmini have sold out.
At 2pm, join us in the Library’s event space for Dr Daniela Cosmini’s engaging talk, titled ‘Italian Migration to South Australia: History, Culture and Impact’. Working as an Academic Adjunct at Flinders University, Dr Cosmini is an expert in the field of Italian migration to South Australia, specialising in the Molfettese community in South Australia, the ageing Italian community in South Australia, and the identity and material culture of Italian migrants.
