About the event

Home to South Australia's first Italian migrant, Antonio Giannoni, the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters has a reputation for its cosmopolitan lifestyle due in large part from the thousands of Italian migrants who settled there after the Second World War.

From humble beginnings, Italian migrants slowly helped to build the city, making substantial contributions in a range of disciplines, including business, education, medicine, law, sport  and the arts, and along the journey, paved the way for their children and grandchildren to emerge as the next generation of leaders in their community. Come and listen to four inspirational Italian Australian leaders with a connection to the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters who have risen to the top in their respective fields of endeavour.

Hear about their struggles and success and how their Italian roots shaped and influenced them throughout their journey. From the cut-throat world of Business to elite sport, from community and local government to state parliament, these four speakers will give personal insights about the highs and lows of life at the top.

Speakers include;

  • Robert Bria – Mayor of Norwood, Payneham, and St Peters

  • Vinnie Cicarello – Previous Mayor of Norwood Payneham and St Peters and Previous Sitting member for Dunstan

  • Ida Tirimacco and Joe Cimmino – Business partners and successful owners of ORBE hairdressing , for over 30 years

  • Mathew Panos (The King) - Former Norwood Captain and Best and Fairest, Current Crows SANFL Midfield Development Coach, and Senior School Sports Coordinator, Saint Ignatius College
